We’re thrilled to share that the Employer Incentive Scheme has been officially extended – a move that brings fantastic news for both Educ8 Group and the employers we proudly partner with in Wales.
This extension marks another significant step forward in our mission to champion inclusive employment and raise the profile of apprenticeships as powerful pathways into the workforce. The scheme provides a financial incentive for employers who recruit disabled apprentices, offering critical support to those committed to creating accessible and diverse working environments.
What’s new?
The key element for the scheme is a £2,000 incentive per learner for employers who recruit disabled apprentices. This financial boost helps employers invest in tailored onboarding and development for apprentices, while also removing potential barriers to entry for talented individuals who may have previously faced challenges accessing the workplace.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the eligibility criteria:
- Employers will receive £2,000 per disabled apprentice, up to a maximum of 10 learners per business.
- The scheme covers apprenticeships delivered at Levels 2 to 5 – supporting a wide range of skill development (note: degree apprenticeships are excluded).
- To qualify, the learner must be identified as disabled at the time of recruitment.
- Employers cannot apply if:
- They offer zero-hours contracts
- They utilise a shared apprenticeship model
- The learner is recognised as disabled after recruitment
This initiative not only supports business growth and workforce development but also underlines the value of equity in employment.
By reducing financial risk and offering practical support, the scheme empowers more employers to embrace apprenticeship programmes, especially those who are committed to employing individuals with disabilities. It’s a vital part of ensuring that everyone, regardless of background or ability, has access to meaningful career pathways.
At Educ8 Group, we’re excited to continue working closely with employers to navigate the eligibility process, match the right candidates, and support apprentices throughout their learning journey. This extension will help us further accelerate the reach of our training programmes and deepen the real-world impact they have.
