What to expect from our ILM qualifications

Study remotely around busy work schedules and family commitments at a time convenient to you. With a flexible learner experience, you will study through our online platforms – Smart Assessor and Moodle. Materials on our ILM Learning Zone are created by the Harvard Business School, some of the best in the world. 

You’ll get plenty of support. Our qualified trainer coaches bring a wealth of experience to share with you. You will meet with them monthly, on a one to one basis.

Our structured ILM programmes have an excellent reputation, with long-standing staff members and a well-established ILM team. In your first year of study, enjoy free student membership to ILM. Our Level 5 learners even benefit from an exclusive IOD membership. 

What you will learn during your Management course

Study our business qualifications and choose from a range of mandatory and optional units. Subjects will range from understanding the management role, to how to manage team and individual performance. 

Learn how to develop working relationships and how to encourage collaboration and learning and development. Importantly, you will discover the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion, the importance of encouraging innovation and even how to manage conflict.  

As a manager, you will be expected to manage a budget and contribute to business performance. Crucially, you will discover new leadership approaches and techniques, enabling you to grow and become the best manager you can be. 

Leadership courses from levels 2 to 5

If you’re a new team leader and want to develop as a manager, study ILM Level 2 Team Leading. Learn to implement the core skills needed in a business environment. ILM Level 3 Management is perfect if you’re taking your first step into line management. 

Leadership and Management Level 4 is for those moving into middle management. Develop the skills to take on higher level responsibilities, like planning and implementing change. Study four mandatory units and delve into the theory of how to inspire and engage people. Learn to implement an operational plan and develop your working relationships with key stakeholders.  

ILM Level 5 is for middle managers responsible for substantial programmes and resources. Develop skills in strategic planning, change and business process design. Learn core leadership and management skills and how to inspire colleagues and deliver results. 

ILM Level 2 Team Leading

12 Months

Our Level 2 qualification is ideal if you are a new team leader and want to develop as a manager. You will have the opportunity to learn and implement the core skills needed in a business environment.

ILM Level 3 Management

15 Months

Studying our Level 3 combined knowledge and competency based qualification is perfect if you are taking your first step into line management or already have some responsibilities.

ILM Level 4 Management

14 Months

Level 4 is suitable for those moving into middle management. You will still have responsibility for operational processes but will be more removed from day to day line management.

ILM Level 5 Management

18 Months

Level 5 is aimed at middle managers responsible for substantial programmes and resources, our qualification develops skills in strategic planning, change and business process design.

What happens after your ILM apprenticeship

We believe in lifelong learning. No matter where you are in your career, there is always more to learn. As you work through your management career, progress through levels 2 to 5.

On completion of Level 5, there may even be opportunities to study at a higher level. We offer qualifications in many different areas, from childcare, business and marketing to advice and guidance, business admin and customer service.

On completion you will hold an accredited City and Guilds qualification and be invited to our annual Graduation Ceremony, Gradu8. Held annually, you will get to graduate in a cap and gown in front of family and friends.

How does an apprenticeship in Management work?

Most learners who study leadership and management are currently in a job role and want to learn new skills. They will stay in the same role and on the same wage and study the course with us. They will gain an accredited qualification and learn how to better manage their teams. The learner will meet with their trainer coach once a month to progress through the qualification.
